šStop⦠Are You Facing This Leadership Trap too?
Have you ever been in a place where youāre leading a big team, juggling endless tasks, and feeling both excited and overwhelmed at the same time? Iāve been there. During my career, I had the opportunity to lead and manage large teams, I was all about saying yes.
āYes, I can do that!ā
āSure, why not?!ā
āAbsolutely, Iāll take care of it!ā

At first, it was thrilling! I felt unstoppable, managing all the moving pieces and making sure everything was in place. But over time, something started to slipāmy wellbeing. I was running on fumes, finding it harder to give myself permission to say no, to pause, or to take time for me. Sound familiar?
Hereās the thing: Many leaders fall into this same trap, and it starts to show in their work, their health, and their mindset. Weāre taught that saying yes makes us better leaders, but sometimes it can lead to burnout. So, let me ask you this:
What if the key to becoming a better leader is knowing when to pause, say no, and take care of yourself?
When I realised that my non-stop āyesā attitude was compromising my wellbeing, I had to make a change. And it came down to two things: wellbeing and a growth mindset.
Wellbeing isnāt just about hitting the gym or eating healthy. Itās about nurturing your mind, emotions, and spirit. Every night, I start journalling ā it helps reduce stress, improve clarity, and enhance emotional resilience. (I definitely recommend it!) Taking just a few minutes before bed to reflect has been a game-changer for me. It helps me reset, and I wake up more grounded and ready to lead.
Then, thereās the growth mindset. As Dr. Carol Dweck explains in her book Mindset, this is about seeing challenges as opportunities to grow, not obstacles that stop you. The more I embraced this, the more I realised that failure isnāt a dead endāitās just part of the journey. When you shift your mindset, you start to lead with intention.
But hereās the challenge: How do you balance this in your leadership role? Well, thatās what Iām working on too, right alongside you.
šāļø My challenge for both of us this week is to adopt these wellbeing practices and shift our mindset in an area where we feel stuck. Letās see how it changes our approach. šŖ
